The historic fishing harbour, Padstow, is sited on the North Cornwall coast at the estuary of the River Camel, not far from Wadebridge, and has lots of wonderful and inspiring views. Take Trevose Head with its light house for example, or the Camel Estuary, flourishing with bird life. Padstow is filled with an intricate maze of lanes brimming with personality and unique crafts, a great example of West Country life in times of yore.

Erected into the hillside it defies today’s rules of town planning, and instead allows its unusual personality to shine through, especially in the pastel cottages that lead you down to the eye catching port.

Padstow has a selection of art galleries, some of very high standard. It is well worth venturingexploring down lanes as the surprises can be very rewarding.

The Port

Padstow’s town life is centered around its harbour, which is still full of activity and working fishing boats. The ferry across the river to Rock is possibly the oldest crossing still in continuous use in Britain; very handy it is too. The harbour is a marina for some wonderful boats, very enjoyable to walk around.
